Our Work
At Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust, we protect the irreplaceable landscapes that define the South Carolina Lowcountry. Through strategic conservation projects across eight counties, we’re building a lasting legacy of preserved rivers, productive farms, historic sites, and natural areas for future generations.
Where We Work
The land we conserve stretches from Berkeley County, our original home base, all across the tri-county Charleston region and into the broader Lowcountry.
How We conserve
- Conservation Easements. We work with families, farmers, and local companies to preserve conservation values while respecting landowner rights.
- Strategic Acquisitions. When suitable properties become available, we purchase them to ensure permanent protection.
- Partnerships. We work with conservation organizations, government agencies, and community groups to multiply our impact.
- Stewardship. We closely monitor every property annually to uphold our obligations and ensure our conservation agreements are honored in perpetuity.
why conservation is more important than ever
Charleston’s explosive growth is spreading outward, and we’re quickly losing natural areas and farmland. We need to work fast to secure our most important landscapes before they’re lost forever.
