About Us

What began with protecting 900 acres of Mulberry Plantation has grown to over 49,000 acres of permanently conserved lands in South Carolina. Every day, we wake up and work hard to ensure that future generations inherit the landscapes that define who we are as a State.

Our mission

To preserve our community's sense of place by protecting its natural, cultural, and open space resources in perpetuity.

Our vision

A landscape anchored by our community's natural and historical traditions, existing in balanced harmony with the necessary growth that fuels South Carolina's economic engine.

We envision our State as a place where growth and conservation work together. South Carolina's economy is important, but growth shouldn't come at the expense of our land. That's why we work hard to build a place where kids can fish in rivers and tidal creeks. Where families still farm the land of prior generations. And where the story of American liberty is preserved in the places where it was fought for.

At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to safeguarding

the natural environment and preserving the historical significance of the land. Our conservation goals focus on protecting biodiversity, restoring ecosystems, and ensuring sustainable land use practices. By partnering with local communities, landowners, and environmental experts, we strive to maintain vital habitats for wildlife, promote responsible stewardship, and preserve the cultural landmarks that tell the story of our shared heritage. Every project is designed to strike a balance between conservation and responsible development, ensuring that these landscapes thrive for generations to come.
